Cavs Reveal 2023 Preseason Schedule

AKRON, Ohio — What will the Cavaliers do to try to build off last season’s 51-31 finish and playoff appearance?JB Bickerstaff instructs Donovan Mitchell

Well, we will know more in early October, when they tip off the preseason.

More specifically, the Cavs begin their four-game preseason slate on Oct. 10, when they pay a visit to the Hawks. They will then host the Magic on Oct. 12 and Israeli club Maccabi Ra’Anana on Oct. 16.

The preseason concludes on Oct. 20 with a visit to the Pacers.

Interestingly, Cleveland opened the regular season on Oct. 19 in 2022. So this year’s regular season will start about a week later — or in the Cavs’ case, likely on Wednesday, Oct. 25. The NBA has not released the schedule, so the who and where is yet to be determined.

For the record, the league released the full schedule on August 20 last year and August 17 the year before that. That means the 2023-24 schedule should be out any day now, certainly within the next week or two.

Along with the return of the likes of guards Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland, forwards Evan Mobley and Caris LeVert, and center Jarrett Allen, the Cavs have added several new pieces — including guard/forward Max Strus and forward Georges Niang.

J.B. Bickerstaff will also return and is entering his fourth full season coaching the team.

Broadcasts of preseason games have not yet been announced.
