Chris Finch rips official after Game 3 loss: ‘Completely unprofessional behavior’

Chris Finch didn’t hold back.

The Timberwolves coach took issue with veteran official Tony Brothers after Minnesota’s 115-108 loss to the Spurs in Game 3, calling the interaction “completely unprofessional behavior.”

The flashpoint came midway through the fourth quarter.

With 5:12 remaining, Finch tried to call a timeout during a broken possession. He said Brothers saw it and ignored it.

“I [told him] ‘I want my three seconds back,’” Finch said. “He clearly heard me call a timeout… Almost cost us a turnover.”

That was just the start.

Brothers walked toward the Wolves’ bench after Finch reacted. Players and staff stepped in before things escalated. Minutes later, Finch said he approached again to ask about an inbound spot.

“He lost it,” Finch said.

Anthony Edwards downplayed it.

“Competition at the highest level,” Edwards said. “We want to win. Finchy wanna win. Tony Brothers is Tony Brothers.”

Still, it added another layer to a frustrating night.

Minnesota missed its first 12 shots, fell into an early hole and never fully recovered despite fighting back. The Wolves had chances late but could not close, as Victor Wembanyama took over down the stretch.

The loss gives San Antonio a 2-1 series lead and flips home-court advantage.

Game 4 is Sunday.

The Timberwolves will be looking for answers.

Finch already had one question answered.
