Clippers Signing Xavier Moon to Exhibit 10 Deal

The Clippers have signed shooting guard Xavier Moon to an Exhibit 10 contract, as reported by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.Xavier Moon

Moon, 28, 6-foot-2, and the nephew of former NBA player Jamario Moon, went undrafted out of Morehead State in 2017. In college, Moon averaged 12.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. From 2017-21, Moon played in Canada and won CEBL Player of the Year honors three years in a row (2019-21), as well as becoming a two-time CEBL champion.

Since 2021, Moon has been playing within the Clippers organization, and last year for the G League affiliate Ontario Clippers, he averaged 20.1 points (52.3% FG, 38.9% 3P), 3.9 rebounds, and 5.5 assists. As Moon finished each of the last two seasons on a two-way contract with the LA Clippers, he has appeared in 14 career NBA games, averaging 4.6 points and 2.1 assists in 11.2 minutes per game.

Moon’s new deal with the Clippers may be a result of his outstanding Summer League performance in Vegas, in which he averaged 19.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 2.2 steals, and 1.0 blocks on an efficient 55.4% shooting from the field, 57.7% on three-pointers and 91.7% from the free-throw line.

Moon’s Exhibit 10 contract could be converted into a two-way deal before the regular season begins, as the Clippers have one two-way slot open. According to agent Andre Buck, Moon is expected to be given an opportunity to compete for that spot.

Nevertheless, if Moon ends up being waived, as long as he spends the required 60 days with the Ontario Clippers, he will be eligible for a $75,000 contract bonus.
