The legal matter involving Cavaliers guard James Harden is expected to remain unresolved for at least another couple of months.
According to records cited by The California Post, Harden’s court date has been moved from June 22 to Aug. 3 following his arrest over the weekend in Houston on a misdemeanor charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon.

The charge stems from a traffic stop in downtown Houston. Authorities have alleged that a handgun was visible inside Harden’s vehicle and was not secured in a holster.
The California Post also reported that Harden has retained prominent Texas attorney Rusty Hardin to represent him in the case. TMZ released Harden’s mug shot.
Meanwhile, his future with the Cavs remains one of the bigger offseason storylines.
Harden, 36, holds a player option worth roughly $42 million for next season, though league insiders have long maintained that he is expected to decline the option and work with Cleveland on a new multi-year contract.
Neither the arrest nor the rescheduled court date appears to have changed that expectation.
Following the Cavs’ season-ending loss to the Knicks in the Eastern Conference finals, Harden made it clear he hopes to remain in Cleveland.
“Definitely want to be here,” he said. “I think we found something.”
Free agency is now just a couple weeks away. With Harden’s court appearance now scheduled for August, the situation is likely to remain on the radar as the Cavs navigate another critical offseason.
