Raptors
- Forward Scottie Barnes is the least likely member of the Raptors to be on the move this summer, per Eric Koreen of The Athletic. Not a big surprise, given Barnes’ age (21) and upside.
- Kings associate head coach Jordi Fernandez interviewed for the Raptors’ coaching vacancy via Zoom on Friday, per Marc J. Spears of Andscape/ESPN. Fernandez was in his first year as an assistant under Mike Brown and after six years with the Nuggets and coach Michael Malone.
- James Piercey of NBA Analyst Network looks at two trades that could send Raptors forward OG Anunoby to the Knicks. Check it out here.
Knicks
Forward Julius Randle (ankle sprain) and guard Jalen Brunson (ankle soreness) are both listed as questionable for Game 2 vs. the Heat.
Randle missed Game 1 and the Knicks were able to keep it close. It would be hard to envision them having much of a chance without Brunson too.
- In case you missed it, we passed along some Knicks notes earlier. You can check them out here.
Heat
Not surprisingly, Heat forward Jimmy Butler is considered questionable for Game 2 vs. the Knicks with an ankle sprain.
“He’s doing treatment round the clock,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said, via James Herbert of CBS Sports. “Probably won’t have any update until before the game.”
- Point guard Kyle Lowry added that the Heat can only focus on the task ahead of them, and not so much who may be out there for the Knicks. “It’s just staying in the moment of what the situation is,” Lowry said, via Herbert. “Julius Randle may play. Different coverages, different matchups. They may play different guys more, another guy less, who knows. So for us, we watched the film for what we can do better as a team.”
- The Heat have won six of seven since the start of the play-in tournament. We have more on their recent run here.
