East Rumors: Hawks, Dejounte Murray, Magic, Knicks, Julius Randle

Hawks

Guard Dejounte Murray is perhaps the most likely trade candidate in the league with the Feb. 8 deadline less than a month away.Dejounte Murray

He has been linked to the Lakers, Knicks, and now the Heat. In fact, according to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Heat are a “legitimate” contender to land Murray.

Fischer reported that news on the Ball Don’t Lie podcast. Others have told Hoops Wire that Murray is likely to garner interest from no less than 12-15 teams before the deadline.

Magic

Center Wendell Carter Jr. is a name to watch as the trade deadline approaches, per Fischer.

Wendell Carter continues to be a name that a lot of league executives talk about as a potential trade candidate this February being that Goga Bitadze has done a phenomenal job starting for Orlando,” Fischer said.

The Magic are having a banner season, though, and are far from desperate to make any sort of trade, sources said.

Knicks

  • While the Knicks already made a splash by landing forward OG Anunoby from the Raptors, reports continue to surface that New York remains open to trading forward Julius Randle. The latest comes from Brandon Robinson of Bovada.
  • As we relayed here, the Knicks could indeed explore another trade, given the bevy of picks at their disposal. (Full post)
  • Randle said he’s focused on one thing: Winning. “My job is to win as many games as possible, try to win the championship,” he told reporters.

  1. What assets could the Lakers offer for Murray?

Seems like the Heat best fit.

Are Hawks going to do a mini-rebuild with all the front office changes? What does a Quinn Snyder style roster look like? What do they value? (what’s the issue with Murray, who is new there?)
