Free agent center Greg Monroe has signed with the Sichuan Blue Whales of the Chinese Basketball Association.
Monroe, 33, is 6-foot-11 and last played in the NBA on a series of 10-day contracts with the Wizards, Timberwolves, Bucks and Jazz in 2021-22. Last season, he played in the Puerto Rican league but appeared in just one game.
He also spent time with the Shanxi Loongs of the CBA, but parted ways with the club in January.
His last notable season in the NBA actually came in 2017-18, when he played 51 games total with the Suns, Bucks and 76ers and averaged 10.3 points and 6.9 rebounds.
Monroe was selected by the Pistons with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, and spent the first five seasons of his career in Detroit. He has also spent time playing professionally in Russia and Germany, as well as the G League.
