The Grizzlies have signed forward Lamar Stevens for the remainder of the 2024-25 NBA season, the team announced Thursday.
Stevens, 27, had spent the last 20 days with the Grizzlies on a pair of 10-day contracts, appearing in six games and averaging 4.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in 9.9 minutes per contest.
“He’s got a positive and honest voice in the locker room, which is great,” Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said, per Damichael Cole of the Memphis Commercial Appeal. “He’s a guy that whatever role he is going to be deployed in, he’s going to compete his tail off. That’s what I love about him. That’s what we saw last year.”
Before rejoining Memphis, Stevens was playing with the Motor City Cruise, the G League affiliate of the Pistons. Over 29 G League games, he posted averages of 17.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game, with a shooting line of .438/.328/.744 in 34.0 minutes per game.
Stevens, who went undrafted out of Penn State in 2020, began his NBA career with the Cavaliers. After three years with the Cavs, he spent time with the Celtics and the Grizzlies last season.
Known for his energy, toughness, and defensive prowess, Stevens is expected to provide a valuable presence off the bench as Memphis aims for a deep playoff run.
The Grizzlies (42-24) host the Cavs on Friday. They sit in a second-place tie with the Nuggets in the Western Conference standings.
