Hawks, Quin Snyder expected to talk contract extension after season

The Hawks appear ready to keep some stability in place after a surprising late push.

Atlanta head coach Quin Snyder is believed to have “strong” support from the front office for a new contract, per Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

Snyder has one year remaining on his current deal, with extension talks expected to take place shortly after the season ends.

That lines up with how things finished. The Hawks closed on a 19-5 run following the midseason trade of star guard Trae Young, a stretch that helped reshape the outlook around the team and Snyder’s role moving forward.

Meanwhile, there’s another situation to monitor on the roster.

Veteran guard CJ McCollum is headed toward unrestricted free agency, but he remains a candidate to stay in Atlanta. Fischer reported shortly after McCollum’s January arrival that an extension could be in play, and that hasn’t changed.

There’s still mutual interest between the two sides in working out a new deal this summer.

So while the roster has seen some significant changes, the Hawks may be leaning toward continuity where it matters most — on the bench and in the backcourt.
