The Knicks are still looking to add to the roster after signing guard Donte DiVincenzo away from the Warriors, with their eyes on size.
Per Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, the Knicks are aiming to find another frontcourt player via the free-agent market. Makes sense, given that they traded power forward Obi Toppin to the Pacers for draft picks.
As for available veteran big men, there are plenty — from DeMarcus Cousins to Derrick Favors to Serge Ibaka to Markieff Morris and beyond. Of course, it’s not known if Knicks president Leon Rose and the front office have an interest in any of those names.
Also, Bondy named center Gorgui Dieng and small forward Derrick Jones Jr. as available players, but did not say if the Knicks were actually interested in either.
Still, you get the idea. The Knicks aren’t done with the team-building process after finishing strong and advancing to the second round of the playoffs. It took the eventual Eastern Conference champion Heat to cast them aside.
So another big body that could be had at a low cost could help fill out the depth chart behind the likes of centers Mitchell Robinson and Isaiah Hartenstein, and power forward Julius Randle.
