The New York Knicks are acquiring guard/forward Alec Burks and small forward Bojan Bogdanovic from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for guards Quentin Grimes, Malachi Flynn, Evan Fournier, Ryan Arcidiacono and two second-round picks, per NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
This is quite a move for New York, which on paper will bolster an Eastern Conference contender with two veteran players. It will also serve as Burks’ second run with the franchise.
Meanwhile, Bogdanovic is viewed as one of the NBA’s most underrated scorers, with Burks offering some nice punch off the bench. The Knicks acquired forward OG Anunoby in a trade with the Toronto Raptors last month.
Detroit is looking to clean house and start fresh after setting the NBA record for consecutive losses and sporting the league’s worst record (7-43) through 50 games. The Pistons also agreed to a trade for Philadelphia 76ers guard/forward Danuel House earlier in the day, as we relayed here.
Shams Charania of The Athletic was the first to report that the Knicks would also receive Bogdanovic as part of the deal.
