LeBron James undecided if next season will be his last

LeBron James isn’t returning to the Lakers. Beyond that, he will seemingly keep everyone guessing.

Not just this summer, but perhaps next summer, too.

Per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, James has yet to determine whether he will play beyond the 2026-27 season.

The rest of us have yet to determine where he’ll play. All we know is he won’t be back in LA. We also don’t know if it will be his final NBA run.

So far, James has been linked to the Warriors, Cavaliers and the Heat, as Hoops Wire reported. But according to McMenamin, he’s instructed agent Rich Paul to speak with any interested team. That could mean all 29 remaining teams.

LeBron has changed teams in 2010 (Cleveland to Miami), 2014 (Miami to Cleveland), and 2018 (Cleveland to LA). Now, he’s about to do it again at the age of 41.

That’s about the extent of what we can say for sure. Whether he’ll play for his new team beyond next season, or hold a goodbye tour, remains a mystery.

James is coming off another productive season, averaging 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds while proving he remains among the league’s most effective offensive players. He turns 42 in late December.
