NBA Draft Rumors: Nets, Nate Ament, Bulls, Mavericks

Nets

Rival teams continue to believe the Nets are giving serious consideration to Tennessee forward Nate Ament with the No. 6 overall pick, per Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

According to Siegel, there remains a perception around the league that Brooklyn is taking a long look at Ament despite a wide range of projections regarding where the talented forward could ultimately come off the board.

The Nets have developed a reputation for being difficult to predict on draft night. Last year, Brooklyn made NBA history by using five first-round picks — demonstrating a willingness to chart its own course rather than follow the projections.

Bulls

The Bulls are reportedly exploring ways to move up the board.

Siegel reports that Chicago has been attempting to acquire a second top-10 pick to pair with the No. 4 selection. While that scenario appears unlikely, rival executives believe a move into the back half of the lottery remains possible.

One reason could be Michigan center Aday Mara.

According to Siegel, both the Bulls and Thunder have expressed interest in moving up for Mara, who has emerged as one of the more intriguing big men in the class.

Former teammate Morez Johnson is another prospect believed to be generating interest from Chicago.

Mavericks

The Mavericks may be looking elsewhere with the No. 9 pick.

League sources told Siegel that Dallas is not especially high on Kingston Flemings and currently ranks him behind several other guards on its draft board.

One player believed to be ahead of Flemings in the Mavericks’ evaluations is Arizona freshman Brayden Burries.

As for Burries, Siegel reported that Atlanta would not be considered a preferred landing spot for the talented guard should he remain available when the Hawks are on the clock at No. 8.
