NBA Notes: Jazz, Darryn Peterson, Sixers, Adem Bona, Grizzlies

Jazz

The Jazz are moving into the next stage of preparation for the 2026 NBA Draft.

According to Sarah Todd of the Deseret News, Utah’s focus now shifts toward medical evaluations and pre-draft workouts as the organization continues gathering information on prospects.

That could be especially important with the No. 2 overall pick.

Kansas star Darryn Peterson remains among the players linked to Utah, but his injury history will likely receive plenty of attention. Peterson appeared in just 24 games this past season while battling lingering hamstring issues.

The Jazz are also expected to begin hosting prospects for workouts, interviews and meetings with coaches and executives as they continue narrowing their options ahead of draft night.

76ers

The Sixers received encouraging flashes from Adem Bona during his second NBA season.

The athletic big man showcased his shot-blocking ability and defensive energy whenever opportunities arose, finishing among the league leaders in blocks per 100 possessions.

Still, questions remain.

According to Philly Voice’s Adam Aaronson, Bona must improve his defensive rebounding, offensive consistency and overall feel for the game if he’s going to secure a larger role moving forward.

The 23-year-old is also working to expand his offensive skill set, including becoming more comfortable shooting from the perimeter.

“That’s definitely a part of my game I do want to develop,” Bona said.

With Joel Embiid‘s health continuing to be monitored, additional frontcourt depth could remain an important issue in Philadelphia.

Grizzlies

The Grizzlies may have extra reason to pay attention to Utah’s development next season.

Memphis owns rights connected to a future Jazz first-round pick, and new lottery odds could create an interesting wrinkle.

As Chris Crouse of Forty Eight Minutes noted, Utah is expected to be more competitive next season behind a core featuring Lauri Markkanen, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Walker Kessler, along with internal development from several younger players.

If the Jazz improve as expected, the value of that future draft asset could ultimately benefit Memphis.

Either way, both organizations are playing the long game. The results may not become clear until several years down the road.
