The game between the Milwaukee Bucks and New Orleans Pelicans, originally scheduled for Wednesday at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, has been postponed due to extreme weather conditions, the NBA confirmed today.
Snowfall and icy conditions have hit the region, creating hazardous travel conditions and prompting the decision to push back the matchup.
This winter storm, which is rare for the city, has caused significant disruptions, and the NBA is currently working on finding a suitable makeup date. While details on the rescheduled contest have yet to be released, the league is expected to provide an update soon.
NBA insider Chris Haynes was the first to report the postponement, adding that there is growing concern about whether the Bucks will be able to depart New Orleans in time for their Thursday home game against the Miami Heat.
With travel disruptions plaguing the region, it’s unclear if the team can make the necessary arrangements.
The Pelicans, who are slated to play in Memphis on Friday, face their own scheduling challenges as they navigate the aftermath of the storm.
The NBA’s decision to postpone comes after a series of cancellations earlier this month, including those caused by wildfires in Los Angeles and severe weather in Atlanta. The league was able to announce new dates for most of those games, but the rescheduling of certain contests, such as the Spurs/Lakers game, is still pending.
With this latest postponement, both the Bucks/Pelicans and Spurs/Lakers games are expected to be prioritized in the NBA’s next round of rescheduled dates.
