NBA Rumors: Clippers, Peyton Watson, Larry Nance Jr, Kings, Jonathan Kuminga

Clippers

Signing Rui Hachimura doesn’t necessarily mean the Clippers are finished adding to the wing.

Jake Fischer and Marc Stein of The Stein Line reported that Los Angeles remains a potential sign-and-trade suitor for Nuggets restricted free agent Peyton Watson despite agreeing to terms with Hachimura earlier this week.

Watson’s market remains somewhat difficult to gauge.

While the Nets have frequently been mentioned as a possible destination, Fischer and Stein reported that people around the league currently view Brooklyn as more of a “conceptual” suitor than a team actively pursuing the 23-year-old.

The Clippers, meanwhile, continue looking for ways to strengthen their roster after moving on from Kawhi Leonard.

NBA Free Agents

A few familiar veterans are still waiting for the free-agent market to fully unfold.

According to Fischer and Stein, forwards Larry Nance Jr. and Georges Niang have received interest from several of the same teams still monitoring LeBron James‘ situation.

Guard Lonnie Walker IV also remains on the NBA radar.

After spending last season with Maccabi Tel Aviv, Walker has until July 15 to decide whether to exercise his NBA opt-out clause. Fischer and Stein reported that he’s expected to meet with teams during Las Vegas Summer League before making that decision.

With several marquee free agents still available, the next wave of signings may not be far away.

Kings

The Kings haven’t given up on Jonathan Kuminga.

They just have a difficult path to landing him.

Anthony Slater of ESPN reported that Sacramento has checked back in on Kuminga after previously pursuing him last offseason. However, even after waiving DeMar DeRozan, the Kings remain limited financially and would likely need to complete a sign-and-trade to make a deal work.

According to Slater, Sacramento has been reluctant to seriously pursue that route.

The Lakers and Cavaliers continue to be viewed as stronger contenders for Kuminga, leaving the Kings searching for a way to re-enter the conversation.
