NBA Rumors: Rockets, Kevin Durant, Blazers, Damian Lillard, Hawks, Wizards

A handful of teams are heading into the offseason with different priorities. There are also a few common threads. Flexibility. Patience. And in some cases, big decisions.

Here’s a look around the league, all via Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

Rockets

Houston may be headed for a wide-ranging summer.

After losing Fred VanVleet to an ACL tear before the season and then falling in the first round, the Rockets are expected to take an “all options on the table” approach. That includes evaluating how far this current group can realistically go.

There are also questions about fit, particularly with Kevin Durant. If bigger names such as Kawhi Leonard, Giannis Antetokounmpo or Donovan Mitchell become available, Houston could explore its options.

Meanwhile, Amen Thompson is viewed as a candidate for a max extension after a strong postseason showing.

Trail Blazers

The expectation is Damian Lillard will be back. What that means for the rest of the backcourt is another story.

Portland has Jrue Holiday under contract and Scoot Henderson continuing to develop. The belief is Lillard and Holiday can work together, but long-term decisions on Henderson could lead to changes.

Holiday made it clear where he stands.

“I don’t like being traded,” he said. “I like being a part of something and building.”

Hawks

Atlanta isn’t expected to chase another star.

Instead, the focus is on keeping what it has. That includes potential deals for CJ McCollum, Jonathan Kuminga and coach Quin Snyder.

There’s also a front office note. Executive Bryson Graham is in the mix for Chicago’s top basketball job.

Wizards

There’s been chatter about Anthony Davis, but the expectation is Washington stays focused on its current direction.

That includes working toward a long-term deal with Trae Young after his late-season arrival.
