The Cavaliers may just be getting started on potentially reshaping the roster. So, hey, it’s speculation time.
That is, after all, what this time of the NBA year is for.
Following recent comments from ESPN’s Brian Windhorst suggesting the Cavs could explore moving Dennis Schroder, several potential destinations have already been floated for the veteran point guard.

One of those taking a crack at it is John Hobbs of Cavs on SI, who identified three teams that could make sense as trade partners — the Timberwolves, Pistons and Magic.
Minnesota may be the most intriguing fit.
The Timberwolves have been searching for additional backcourt depth, particularly with veteran Mike Conley nearing the end of the NBA road. Hobbs suggested Schroder could provide a steady secondary ball-handler behind Anthony Edwards while helping stabilize the second unit.
Detroit was another team mentioned.
The Pistons continue building around Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren, but could still use another experienced guard off the bench. Schroder’s ability to run an offense and provide veteran leadership could make him an option if Detroit looks to strengthen its rotation. Plus, he’s already played there, and recently.
Then there’s Orlando.
The Magic have been linked to backcourt upgrades for much of the offseason, and Hobbs floated the possibility of Schroder helping provide additional depth behind the starters.
And yes, Hobbs also suggested some potential returns. For Minnesota, he suggested future draft compensation and possibly a young wing such as Terrence Shannon Jr. or Julian Phillips. Detroit possibilities included veterans and young talent, while Orlando could potentially offer center Goga Bitadze or draft assets.
Of course, all of this remains hypothetical.
The Cavs have not indicated they’re actively shopping Schroder, and Windhorst’s report merely suggested they could be investigating ways to trim salary.
Still, Schroder’s contract and experience make him one of the more logical candidates to surface in offseason trade chatter. And whether we like it or not, that’s where we are today.
