The Cavaliers continue to be linked to Giannis Antetokounmpo, and one new trade proposal imagines just how complicated a deal for the Bucks superstar could become.
Bleacher Report recently floated a hypothetical four-team trade that would send Antetokounmpo to Cleveland while involving the Thunder, Nets and Bucks.
Before going any further, it’s important to note this is merely a proposal and not a report. There is no indication such discussions have taken place.

Still, it’s the type of scenario that highlights both the appeal and the potential cost of acquiring a player of Antetokounmpo’s caliber. Let’s take a look …
Thunder receive
- Evan Mobley (from Cavaliers)
- No. 29 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft (from Cavaliers)
- $28.5 million trade exception
- $11.3 million trade exception
Cavaliers receive
- Giannis Antetokounmpo (from Bucks)
- No. 43 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft (from Nets)
Bucks receive
- Jalen Williams (from Thunder)
- Isaiah Joe (from Thunder)
- Day’Ron Sharpe (from Nets)
- No. 17 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft (from Thunder)
Nets receive
- Isaiah Hartenstein (from Thunder)
- Aaron Wiggins (from Thunder)
- Sam Merrill (from Cavaliers)
Why Cavs might consider it
The biggest attraction is obvious.
Antetokounmpo is one of the best players of his generation and would immediately form a star trio alongside Donovan Mitchell and James Harden. Even at age 31, the former MVP remains one of the league’s most dominant two-way players.
The proposal would also send Mobley to Oklahoma City rather than another Eastern Conference contender, reducing the likelihood of Cleveland facing him in the playoffs.
Why Cavs might hesitate
The cost is significant.
Mobley has developed into one of the NBA’s premier young big men and already owns a Defensive Player of the Year award. At 24, he is younger than Antetokounmpo and remains under team control for years to come.
There are also durability concerns.
Antetokounmpo was limited to 36 games this season and has dealt with multiple postseason injury issues in recent years. Mobley, meanwhile, has generally been one of the Cavs’ most reliable players.
That’s why any Giannis-to-Cleveland scenario remains complicated.
The Cavs undoubtedly would have interest in adding a player of Antetokounmpo’s stature.
The question, as always, is whether sacrificing a cornerstone like Mobley would be a price they’re truly willing to pay.

The positives if that trade went down for each team..
OKC gives up quite a bit of their identity, but a Shai / Mobley pairing might be a special type of fit. Mobley’s a two footed jumper, would play well to SGA’s areas of operation, and operational abilities in those areas. And ithey’d probably be smart and use Mobley in ways Cavs haven’t attempted.
Bucks get something of value back for a guy who wants out and set a bad example. A high quality player (more than one), and leaders by example. New culture and hope for the future.
Nets sell a bunch of new jerseys.. (not a pun)
Cavs get a perennial MVP candidate with something to prove.I have no idea how the pieces would fit so far, but that could;d be a discussion of it’s own one of these days. How would the Cavs play with Giannis? With or without other trades?
