If Giannis Antetokounmpo requests a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks this summer, one NBA analyst thinks he could land with five teams.
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report listed the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs as potential landing spots for Antetokounmpo.
The Bucks won the championship in 2021 but haven’t had postseason success since. They lost to the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 2022 playoffs, the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2023 playoffs and the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the 2024 and 2025 playoffs.
Antetokounmpo has spent his entire career with the Bucks. He’s a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP, a one-time Defensive Player of the Year and a nine-time All-Star. The future Hall of Famer has career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks.
Milwaukee signed Antetokounmpo to a three-year, $175 million extension in October 2023. According to ESPN, the superstar forward remains happy in Milwaukee.
“Multiple sources have indicated to ESPN throughout the season that Antetokounmpo remains happy in Milwaukee, that he deeply respects Lillard and was pleased with the progress they made as a duo this season, when they were the highest-scoring twosome in the NBA, averaging 58.4 points per game, and helped rally Milwaukee from 2-8 to win the Emirates NBA Cup in December.
“Still, the Bucks and Antetokounmpo are scheduled to meet after the season to discuss both his future and the future plans for the team, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania. It’s an annual meeting between the two sides, but one that carries a different tone heading into the summer after the Bucks failed to win a playoff series even with their star putting up a dominant performance.”
Antetokounmpo will make $54,126,380 next season. He doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract. The swingman declined to speak about his future after Game 5 on Tuesday.
“I’m not going to do this,” Antetokounmpo said. “I’m not going to do that. I know how it’s going to translate. I don’t know, man. I wish I was still playing. I wish I was still competing and going back and working out.”
