Paul George: ‘It’s fun again’ as Sixers prepare for Game 7

The Sixers did not get much from the bench. They did not need it.

All five starters scored at least 14 points in the 106-93 Game 6 win over the Celtics on Thursday, sending the series to a Game 7.

Tyrese Maxey led the way with 30. Joel Embiid added 19, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Then there was Paul George.

He scored 23 with four rebounds, three assists and two steals. More importantly, he looked like himself.

“I’m finally enjoying it now that I’m able to do things I was once able to do again,” George said, via The AP. “It’s fun again. It’s like seeing who I am again.”

George called last season “rock bottom” after injuries limited him and the Sixers struggled. This year brought more interruptions, including a 25-game suspension that doubled as recovery time for his knee.

Now, the results are showing.

“Once he came back, he had a mission,” Maxey said. “I think he’s been accomplishing that mission.”

The Sixers will need it one more time. Game 7 is Saturday in Boston.
