The New Orleans Pelicans are sending forward Brandon Ingram to the Toronto Raptors in a deal for Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk and a first-round pick, per NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN.
The NBA trade deadline is Thursday. Chris Haynes first reported that the Pelicans and Raptors were deep in talks on an Ingram deal.
The Pelicans are receiving the Raptors’ 2026 first-rounder, via the Indiana Pacers, per Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.
Ingram had long been rumored to be among the hottest trade candidates at the deadline, given the fact he was unable to land a contract extension from New Orleans.
And with major and repeated injuries derailing the Pelicans’ season … well, it was likely time for some changes.
On that note, Ingram has only appeared in 18 games this season for the Pelicans due to injuries. He’s averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks while shooting 46.5% from the field, 37.4% from beyond the arc and 85.5% from the free-throw line.
A one-time All-Star, he is making $36 million this season in the final year of his contract. He becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Raptors president Masai Uriji has been a fan of Ingram for some time, per Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
“The Raptors, as first revealed earlier this week on this Substack, have already registered tangible interest in Ingram,” Stein wrote. “Since that story published, sources briefed on the situation have told our twice-weekly contributor The People’s Insider Jake Fischer that Raptors president Masai Ujiri should indeed be classified as a fan of Ingram’s.”
