Rival Teams Suspect Clippers Weighing Paul George Trade

The Clippers have been unable to keep forwards Paul George and Kawhi Leonard on the court together, and that’s no one’s fault but the basketball gods.Paul George

Now, it seems, the Clippers could be giving up on the duo ever going places. At least, the places the Clippers once dreamed of when Leonard and George were brought to LA back in 2019.

Per Marc Stein of The Stein, opposing teams are getting the impression that George could be available. Or as sources told Stein, the Clippers may be exploring George’s trade value.

George has already been linked to the Trail Blazers, who are looking to add veteran talent to star guard Damian Lillard. That’s no secret. But no one really seemed to believe they would be able to land George.

Well, maybe that idea is not so far-fetched. And if George doesn’t go to the Trail Blazers, maybe he could end up someplace else.

At the start of even last season, the idea of giving up on a Leonard-George tandem seemed a bit premature. But more injuries (to both) and a first-round exit later, it makes sense to wonder if this will ever work for the Clippers.

As Stein noted, Leonard and George have been on the court together for just 142 games in four seasons. Can they stay on the floor, though? Or would the Clippers be better served keeping one, or neither, and starting over?

Again, it may be too soon to give up on the Leonard-George promise this summer. Then again, from the sounds of things, it may not be, too.
