Clearly, the Golden State Warriors aren’t rushing this.
Coach Steve Kerr met Monday with owner Joe Lacob and GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. for about two hours, according to ESPN. The goal was simple: Figure out whether it still makes sense to keep this thing going.
By all accounts, the meeting went well. Still, no decision yet.
The sides are expected to meet again next week, ESPN added. In the meantime, Kerr is stepping away for a few days on a previously planned golf trip. People around him describe him as weighing it all.

“It’s April,” one source told ESPN. “We don’t need to rush.”
That’s the tone right now. Kerr is 60. He’s been in the job 12 years. He’s won titles. He’s coached stars like Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
The question isn’t whether he can coach. It’s whether this is still the right situation. His contract expired at the end of the season.
“I still love coaching, but I get it,” Kerr said after the season ended. “These jobs all have an expiration date.”
League sources say this is being framed strictly as a basketball decision. Does Kerr want to keep doing it? Do the Warriors want tweaks to the system and staff? And maybe most importantly, can this roster be reshaped into a real contender again?
The draft lottery is coming May 10. Golden State holds the 11th slot, and that pick could play a role in whatever comes next.
Either way, there’s no coaching search at the moment. Nor will there be one unless Kerr decides to walk away.
So this isn’t messy. It’s just… open-ended.
