The Suns aren’t satisfied after being eliminated in the Western Conference semifinals last season and are looking to improve the roster.
They may be able to do that via the Jazz, who reportedly have made several of their older veterans available. One of those veterans — no less than guard/forward Bojan Bogdanovic.
Along with the Lakers, Mavericks and a few others, Bogdanovic has already been linked to the Suns. That trade possibility was reiterated by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, as relayed by Paolo Songco of Clutch Points.
“It would not surprise me if the Suns got involved in negotiations for Bojan Bogdanovic from the Utah Jazz who is available on the open market right now, several teams are bidding for him,” Windhorst said, via Songco. “… So, from a front office perspective from the folks I’m talking to, the Suns are operating like a championship contender looking to improve their team heading into camp.”
Tony Jones of The Athletic recently reported that the Jazz and Lakers were discussing a Bogdanovic trade, describing those talks as “ongoing.” Apparently, the Suns are quite interested too.
Along with Bogdanovic, the Jazz are said to have made the likes of Mike Conley, Jordan Clarkson and Rudy Gay available.
“Those conversations continue to evolve, we’ve continued to be in touch with them directly and their representation,” Jazz GM Justin Zanik said, via Andy Larsen of the Salt Lake Tribune. “Obviously there’s been a lot of change this summer, so it’s natural for us to have those conversations.”
Bogdanovic, 31, averaged 18.1 points in 69 games last season, making 39 percent of his 3-pointers. This year, he will be on a $19.3 million expiring contract.
Phoenix is looking to bounce back following an ugly Game 7 home loss to the Mavericks in last year’s playoffs, one season after reaching the Finals and losing to the Bucks.
