Thunder take 2-0 lead over Suns, but Jalen Williams injury looms large

The Thunder did what they were supposed to do at home.

They’re up 2-0 on the Suns after a 120-107 Game 2 home win. Business handled. Now comes the part that matters more, holding it together on the road.

Still, this one didn’t end without a little tension.

Phoenix made a late push and trimmed into the lead in the fourth, but Oklahoma City never really lost control. The cushion built earlier was enough.

A few takeaways here.

Williams scores 19, then exits

Jalen Williams picked up right where he left off in Game 1. Aggressive. Efficient. In rhythm. He had 19 points in the first half and barely missed.

Then came the moment.

Williams came down awkwardly in the third, grabbed at his left leg and didn’t return. It looked like the hamstring again, which is what makes it notable. Not just a one-off scare.

No update yet, but that’s the swing piece for OKC. Not just scoring, but the connective stuff. Secondary creation. Defensive versatility. All of it.

Turnovers tilting everything

This is where the Thunder are quietly running the series.

They forced 21 turnovers, gave it away just 10 times themselves and turned that into 22 points. That gap has been there both games.

It’s not random either. It’s their identity. They speed you up, they crowd space, and once you crack, they’re gone the other way. Phoenix hasn’t solved that yet.

Shai resets tone

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander looked like himself again.

Thirty-seven points. Efficient. Under control. Got wherever he wanted. There was a brief moment early where he shook out his hand, but it didn’t linger.

More than anything, he dictated the game. When to push, when to slow it, when to go get one. That’s the version that makes OKC feel a level above.

Game 3 shifts to Phoenix. The Thunder have the edge. The question now is whether they still have Williams.
