The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has taken the life of Ukrainian basketball legend Viktor Kobzisty, as relayed by Roman Hryshchuk of the Parliament of Ukraine (via @JosephStec).
Kobzisty died as the result of a missile attack on Lviv by Russian rockets, Hrhshchuk said. He was 44.
BasketNews reports:
“Kobzisty played for the Ukrainian national team in EuroBasket 2001 (1.5 points, 0.5 rebounds, 0.5 assists) and Eurobasket 2005 (5.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists).
“He later worked as an assistant coach for Budivelnik Kyiv and a head coach in Ukraine.”
