CLEVELAND — It’s that time again. The Cavaliers are just a couple of nights from tipping off the 2023-24 season, Wednesday at Brooklyn to be exact.
So what are realistic expectations? How about the offseason acquisitions? What do they add? I addressed that and a whole lot more in my latest guest spot on Sports 4 CLE on Cleveland.com.
Frankly, I expect the Cavs will be better this year than last. But check out all of my thoughts on the upcoming season in the four videos below.

Hi Sam!
I am predicting a 45-win season. They may have added a couple of better 3 pt. shooters, but they didn’t address their lack of big man physicality. That is unless Tristen has a rebirth and moves his way into the frontline rotation. My other fear Strus and Niang’s defense and size. Strus is a SG but all of a sudden, we are being sold on him playing the three. Niang is a defensive liability that was benched in the second round of the playoffs.
I see a slight falloff. the only thing that would offset that is Mobley taking a huge leap offensively. I think he’s 10 more pounds away from that.
I am predicting a trade deadline move to unload one of the small guys (Okoro, Strus, Merrill) to get rid of the log jam of tweeners and hopefully provide a legit back-up 4 or athletic 3 with greater length and scoring.
Go Cleveland!
