NBA reporter Keith Smith of Spotrac spoke to a Memphis Grizzlies front office exec about the team signing Ty Jerome.
Jerome, who played for the Cleveland Cavaliers last season, signed a three-year, $27.6 million contract with the Grizzlies this offseason in unrestricted free agency.
“We had to get some more bench scoring. That’s been a thing we’ve needed for a while now. Ty is going to be huge for us, especially with Desmond (Bane) having been traded. Ty can play with Ja (Morant) or he can carry the second unit. We’re excited about having him,” the Grizzlies front office executive said.
Ty Jerome played in 70 games for the Cavaliers last season. He averaged 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 51.6% from the field, 43.9% from beyond the arc and 87.2% from the free-throw line.
The 28-year-old Jerome has played for the Phoenix Suns, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors and Cavaliers. He has career averages of 8.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
The Grizzlies lost to the Thunder in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in four games. They have won only one postseason series with Jaren Jackson Jr. and Ja Morant.
