The Celtics are signing free agent center/forward Danilo Gallinari to a two-year, $13.3 million deal, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Gallinari was acquired by the Spurs in the Dejounte Murray trade with the Hawks, then was waived by San Antonio late last week.
The Celtics also recently acquired guard Malcolm Brogdon from the Pacers.
“Gallinari will provide Boston with a veteran shooter who can play several positions. He has connected at 38.1% from three-point range during his career and averaged 11.7 points and 4.7 rebounds with the Hawks last season,” noted Arthur Hill of Hoops Rumors.
The Celtics advanced all the way to the Finals under first-year coach Ime Udoka before falling to the Warriors in six games. Basically, the additions of Brogdon and Gallinari could prove to be vastly underrated.
