The Bulls are acquiring forward Guerschon Yabusele from the Knicks in exchange for Dalen Terry, sources tell Shams Charania of ESPN.
New York had been shopping Yabusele for weeks but struggled to find a taker due to his $5.7 million player option for next season.
Chicago ultimately decided to roll the dice on the 30-year-old, who was productive last season in Philadelphia but never found traction with the Knicks.
There had been chatter that Yabusele was considering a return to Europe, where he starred for several seasons, but this move likely puts that on hold.
He averaged just 8.9 minutes per game across 41 appearances in New York but should see an expanded role with a Bulls frontcourt that has been reshaped in recent days, including the trade of Nikola Vucevic to Boston.
For the Knicks, the deal provides modest financial flexibility. They swap Yabusele’s $5.5 million salary for Terry’s $5.4 million expiring contract.
Terry, 23, was the 18th pick in the 2022 draft but never secured a steady rotation role in Chicago.
According to Yossi Gozlan of The Third Apron, the move increases New York’s space below the second apron enough to allow the team to sign a 15th player earlier than planned.
Terry could still be flipped again before the deadline, and there is belief his expiring deal may draw more interest than Yabusele’s did.
