The Bulls would like head coach Billy Donovan to return for the 2026-27 season following their decision to part ways with president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley, according to ESPN.
Karnisovas and Eversley had led Chicago’s front office since 2020, compiling a 224-254 record over six seasons.

Donovan, who was hired that same year, owns an identical 224-254 regular-season record with the Bulls, along with a 1-4 mark in the playoffs.
“These decisions are never easy, especially when they involve people we respect both personally and professionally,” owner Michael Reinsdorf said in a statement. “We are grateful for their dedication and the work they’ve put in over the past six years. At the same time, we have not had the success our fans deserve, and it’s my responsibility to go in a new direction.
“I want our fans to know that I hear you and understand your frustration. I feel it as well. I know this will take time, and I am fully committed to getting this right. Our focus remains on building a team that can compete at the highest level and ultimately contend for championships.”
While the organization is expected to undergo front office changes, Donovan’s future remains worth monitoring. The veteran coach could consider stepping away following a difficult year that included the recent passing of both his father and mother-in-law.
Chicago last reached the postseason in 2022, led by a core that included Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Coby White, Nikola Vucevic and Alex Caruso. That group has since been dismantled, with each player now on a different team.
The Bulls are currently building around Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis and are positioned to have their own lottery pick in the 2026 draft, along with significant cap flexibility this offseason.
