The Cavaliers are expected to explore ways to improve their roster this offseason, and one suggested move would add a player opposing fans tend to love to hate.
Anthony Farris of Cavs on SI recently floated the idea of Cleveland pursuing Suns guard Grayson Allen, arguing that the veteran could provide some of the toughness and edge the Cavs have lacked in recent postseasons.

The concept is fairly straightforward.
According to Farris, Cleveland could potentially build a package around Dennis Schroder and additional assets, perhaps including the No. 29 overall pick in this month’s draft, in an effort to acquire Allen from Phoenix.
Whether the Suns would have interest is another matter entirely. But Farris believes Allen’s skill set could make him an intriguing fit alongside the Cavaliers’ current core.
Allen, 30, averaged 16.5 points while shooting 40 percent from three-point range this past season. He has built a reputation as one of the league’s better perimeter shooters, while also bringing the type of competitive edge that tends to get under opponents’ skin.
As Farris pointed out, the Cavs have often found themselves on the wrong end of physical playoff battles, particularly against the Knicks this year and the Pacers a season ago.
Allen certainly wouldn’t solve every issue.
But he would bring shooting, experience and a willingness to mix it up.
Of course, this remains one writer’s proposal rather than an indication of actual discussions between Cleveland and Phoenix.
Still, with the Cavs widely expected to explore upgrades around Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, ideas such as this are likely to continue surfacing throughout the offseason.
