Former MLB star Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore are expected to exercise their option to acquire the majority of the Minnesota Timberwolves and WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The Timberwolves (22-7) have been the best team in the West, so now would be the time for A-Rod and Lore to take over. They won’t even need to mess with anything, and by all accounts, they have no plans to do so.
Rodriguez and Lore are finalizing a deal in which they will have 80 percent ownership of both the Wolves and Lynx in early 2024, Wojnarowski reported.
Glen Taylor, who has had majority ownership since 1994, is expected to keep a 20 percent stake in the teams.
Under Lore and Rodriguez’s growing influence, the Timberwolves hired away Denver Nuggets GM Tim Connelly as president, and his trades for Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley have played a significant part in the franchise’s rise to an elite level,” Wojnarowski wrote.
