The Celtics plan to sign free agent center Luke Kornet and promote small forward Sam Hauser from his two-way contract, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
As Wojnarowski noted, the Celtics have some roster spots after making three trades on Thursday, including acquiring guard Derrick White from the Spurs. They also sent point guard Dennis Schroder, and centers Enes Freedom and Bruno Fernando to the Rockets.
Kornet, 26, is 7-foot-2 and appeared in 18 games with the Celtics this season. This year, he has played two for the Cavaliers and another for the Bulls. He has also played for the Maine Celtics of the G League. He carries NBA career averages of 5.7 points and 2.6 rebounds.
Hauser, 24, is 6-8 and has made 10 appearances with the Celtics this season as a rookie. He undrafted out of Virginia and has stood out for Maine, averaging 21.1 points and 6.5 boards in the G League.
