The Pacers are expected to waive center Micah Potter to make room for newly signed veteran Larry Nance Jr., according to Tony East of Circle City Spin, citing multiple league sources.
It’s not an insignificant move.
Potter, 28, quietly enjoyed the best season of his NBA career after signing with Indiana in December. In 47 games (seven starts), the former Wisconsin standout averaged 9.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 51.5 percent from the field and an impressive 42.3 percent from beyond the arc.

A Northeast Ohio product out of Mentor High School, Potter began his college career at Ohio State before transferring to Wisconsin. After going undrafted in 2021, he spent time with the Heat, Pistons, Jazz and Spurs organizations before finally carving out a steady NBA role with the Pacers.
His departure appears to clear the way for Nance, another Northeast Ohio native who agreed to a one-year deal with Indiana earlier Wednesday. Nance, a Revere High School graduate, spent last season with the Cavaliers, averaging 3.7 points and 2.7 rebounds while battling injuries.
The move also continues what’s become a quiet reshuffling of Cleveland’s frontcourt depth this offseason. Dean Wade signed with the 76ers, Nance is headed to Indiana, and the Cavaliers have re-signed Thomas Bryant while waiting to see how the LeBron James situation ultimately plays out.
