Pregame Dribbles: Cavaliers at Bucks

Random dribbles ahead of the Cavaliers’ road game vs. the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday (8 p.m. EST tipoff). …Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley, Cleveland Cavaliers, NBA

1. This is sort of scary. The Cavs are 6-0. The Bucks are somehow 1-4. Eventually, the Cavs will lose. Eventually, the Bucks could pull it together.

2. Then again, the Bucks are starting to look like Giannis Antetokounmpo, what’s left of Damian Lillard‘s game, and not much else.

3. Cleveland should have a field day in the backcourt, as Milwaukee’s defense there has not been good. Overall, the Bucks have struggled to defend the perimeter.

4. Either way, I suspect the Bucks will be plenty motivated here. Coach Doc Rivers has been sending strong messages that they’re better than what they’ve shown. Knocking off the lone six-win team in the NBA would be plenty of motivation.

5. As for the Cavs, as Donovan Mitchell has said time and again already, all they need to do is continue to do what they’re doing — move the ball, trust one another, and really get after it defensively.

6. One of these nights, the shots won’t drop. How the Cavs respond to that will be the difference between winning and losing.

7. And frankly, there will be some nights when the ball just doesn’t bounce your way. Believe it or not, Kenny Atkinson didn’t predict an undefeated season. He did, however, stress the importance of not letting any losses get you down.

8. I know. It sounds as if I’m saying the Cavs have no chance tonight. Far from it. I’m just preparing myself for when they do lose. It will be a bummer for a lot of people.

9. Jarrett Allen is likely to take more than the three shots he managed in Friday’s win over the Magic. Unlike Orlando, Milwaukee doesn’t shove, push, claw and throw elbows. As far as I know.

10. The bench has played remarkably well through the first six games, with Caris LeVert sort of being the unsung guy in why this is working. Same goes for Ty Jerome. And I don’t think I mentioned Dean Wade in last night’s Dribbles. I’d like to see him knock down some of those perimeter shots, but that’s nitpicking. He’s been strong in every other area.

11. By the way, big thrill for me to be on a new show with former Cavs guard Daniel Gibson and current Spanish radio voice Rafa Hernandez-Brito. Both are great dudes. It’s called Full Court Cleveland, from the Big Play Network. You can watch the first episode here.
