Who could Wizards target at No. 1 in 2026 NBA Draft?

The Wizards are on the clock, and this is a good year to be there.

The 2026 draft class has been viewed as one of the stronger groups in recent memory, with a handful of prospects at the top who could change a franchise.

Washington now gets first crack after winning the lottery, with several legitimate options in play.

Here’s a look at the names most often tied to the No. 1 pick:

AJ Dybantsa, BYU

Dybantsa is widely considered the early favorite. He brings size at 6-foot-9, plus length and scoring ability that showed up all season at BYU. He averaged 25.5 points while shooting 51 percent, producing from all three levels. Teams looking for a go-to wing who can grow into more will have him high on the board.

Darryn Peterson, Kansas

Peterson’s year had some stops and starts due to injuries, but the scoring and shot-making still stood out. He averaged more than 20 points and hit 38 percent from three on solid volume. There’s some belief his athleticism can bounce back, which would only add to his appeal. He remains in the mix near the top.

Cameron Boozer, Duke

Boozer turned in a highly productive freshman season, putting up 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting efficiently from the field and from deep. At 18, he showed a strong feel for the game and helped carry Duke deep into the tournament. Some evaluators may question the top-end athletic tools, but the overall production and instincts are tough to overlook.

Caleb Wilson, North Carolina

Wilson may be more of a long shot for No. 1, though he checks a lot of boxes physically at around 6-foot-10 with a 7-foot wingspan. He filled the stat sheet when healthy, averaging 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and contributing across the board defensively. The outside shot is still developing, but the tools and upside are there.

The Wizards have options. And with this class, there’s a case to be made for more than one direction.
