Warriors
Warriors big man Kristaps Porzingis is heading toward a key offseason decision.
Porzingis can become an unrestricted free agent this summer, and the Warriors have spent the past several weeks evaluating the fit while he weighs his future, per NBC Sports Bay Area.
So far, the reviews go both ways.
“Rick’s amazing,” Porzingis said of performance director Rick Celebrini. “Rick is the GOAT, man. Really. I’m very happy with these guys, and I’m sure they will keep me on the same path.”
Health has always been the question. Lately, it’s been trending up. Porzingis has played in seven of the past nine games and is hopeful he can soon handle back-to-backs.
“I think it’s a conversation,” he said. “Maybe. Doing pretty good and recovering well. … The better I feel, the better I start to look.”
He has also spoken highly of the chance to play alongside Stephen Curry — though Curry remains sidelined.
76ers
Sixers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. says he plans to return Saturday after missing eight games with a left elbow sprain, per Kyle Neubeck of PHLY Sports.
In other words, Philadelphia is close to whole again.
Paul George and Joel Embiid are back. Tyrese Maxey is the last major piece sidelined, though he’s expected to be reevaluated soon.
Coach Nick Nurse said Maxey has been “a lot more involved” recently and has maintained his conditioning, a sign his ramp-up could be minimal.
Jazz
Jazz forward Jaren Jackson Jr. continues to progress after a procedure on his left knee.
He’s expected to miss the rest of the season but has resumed individual on-court work and will be reevaluated in two weeks, per Kevin Reynolds of the Salt Lake Tribune.
There may still be late-season returns elsewhere. Lauri Markkanen (hip) and Keyonte George (hamstring) are both candidates to return before the regular season ends.
