The idea of LeBron James finishing his career with the Cavaliers refuses to go away.
As highlighted by Ashish Mathur of Cavs Roundtable, Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus recently proposed a blockbuster sign-and-trade scenario that would send LeBron and son Bronny James from the Lakers to Cleveland.
Under Pincus’ proposal, the Cavs would receive LeBron James, Bronny James, Deandre Ayton, Jake LaRavia, Dalton Knecht and a $28 million trade exception.
The Lakers, meanwhile, would acquire Jarrett Allen, Dennis Schröder, Dean Wade and Sam Merrill.
Pincus acknowledged that the deal would require significant financial maneuvering and would not be completed until after the NBA’s annual moratorium period. He also noted that the Cavaliers would need to shed salary in order to comply with apron restrictions while building out the remainder of its roster.
For the record, this seems to be a whole lot of maneuvering and, frankly, I’m not sure it would make the Cavs any better. But it sure would get them on national TV more often.

Anyway, as Mathur noted, the trade would pair James and Bronny with a Cavs core led by Donovan Mitchell, James Harden and Evan Mobley, while sending Allen to Los Angeles to join Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.
Whether a reunion is realistic remains debatable. As you know, all of the above is merely one analyst’s proposal rather than an indication of active discussions between the Cavs and Lakers.
Still, as Pincus suggested and Mathur highlighted, the notion of James eventually ending his career in Cleveland continues to capture the imagination of NBA fans.
Until LeBron decides one way or the other, I can say with a great degree of certainty that none of this is going away.
And yes, we will keep throwing in on this site, because as seriously as we take the NBA, it’s also about having a little fun. Right? Right.
