The Mavericks may be exploring a trade for Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanovic after doing the same around the time of the 2023 NBA Draft, per Tim MacMahon of ESPN, via Fansided.
This follows a report from Marc Stein of The Stein Line, who wrote that Bogdanovic is again drawing trade interest — just as he did at the trade deadline in February.
The Mavs and Pistons reportedly held talks at the time of the draft on a deal that would send Mavs guard/forward Tim Hardaway Jr. and the No. 10 overall pick to the Pistons for Bogdanovic and the No. 31 pick. The Mavs continue to explore Hardaway trades, reports suggest and as we relayed here.
MacMahon said on the Howdy Partners podcast that he has “heard some rumblings about revisiting the Bojan Bogdanovic talks” when it comes to Dallas (via Fansided).
Bogdanovic, 34, is considered a veteran perimeter shooter who could help a contender. Last summer and into the season, he was linked to the Lakers, Cavaliers and several others, though it’s not believed LA and Cleveland will make a run at him now.
And per Stein, the Pistons are making it seem as if Bogdanovic is not available — and if he is, could only be had at a very high price.
“The Pistons’ stance is routinely dismissed as posturing, but they certainly held firm at the trade deadline in February after months’ worth of trade offers came in for the Croatian swingman,” Stein wrote.
Bogdanovic is coming off his first season with Detroit, appearing in 59 games and averaging career-highs of 21.6 points and 49 percent shooting. That included 41 percent on 3-pointers. He has also spent time with the Jazz, Pacers, Wizards and Nets.
An Achilles injury limited Bogdanovic to just three games following the All-Star break in February, but it does not seem to be an area of concern today, Stein noted.
He is in line to make $20 million this season, with a partial guarantee of $19 million in 2024-25.
