Darryn Peterson is trying to put at least one pre-draft rumor to rest.
The former Kansas star recently addressed reports suggesting he was attempting to steer clear of certain teams near the top of the draft, including the Jazz, who own the No. 2 overall pick.
Speaking with reporters ahead of Tuesday’s NBA Draft, Peterson made it clear he isn’t looking to avoid anyone.

“Just a decision that was made,” Peterson said of only working out for the Wizards, via Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. “I’m definitely not dodging any team. Whoever takes me, I’m going to come in and be delighted to be there. Wherever that happens to be, they’ll get the best me.”
The comments come about a week after a report suggested Peterson preferred the Wizards at No. 1 and hoped to avoid landing with Utah if he wasn’t selected first overall.
According to that report, Peterson’s camp believed he remained very much in the mix for the top pick as Washington continued evaluating both Peterson and former BYU star AJ Dybantsa.
The Wizards own the No. 1 selection, with the Jazz set to pick second and the Grizzlies third.
Whether Peterson’s latest comments change any perceptions remains to be seen.
What they do make clear is that the projected top prospect isn’t interested in fueling the idea that he’s trying to dictate his destination.
