Knicks add Drew Eubanks, could compete with John Konchar for roster spot

The Knicks apparently weren’t finished after signing John Konchar. In fact, they kept the transaction wire busy enough to require its own overnight shift.

New York is signing veteran center Drew Eubanks to a one-year, non-guaranteed contract, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post. The Knicks also added center Liam Robbins on an Exhibit 10 deal.

Eubanks and Konchar could compete for the 14th standard roster spot, although Konchar’s reported interest from several other teams may have helped him secure at least some guaranteed money.

Eubanks, 29, has spent eight seasons with six NBA teams. He averaged 5.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in 42 appearances with the Kings last season.

His year ended early because of a torn ligament in his left thumb that required surgery. He previously suffered an avulsion fracture in the same thumb.

Robbins spent last season with Portland’s G League affiliate, averaging 8.5 points and 5.1 rebounds. He also played for the Knicks during Summer League and could compete for one of their three available two-way spots.

New York additionally signed and waived Jaden Akins, Nick Jourdain, Mitch Mascari, Toby Okani, Igor Milicic and Paul Zilinskas. Those moves position the players to receive bonuses of up to $91,000 if they spend at least 60 days with Westchester.

The defending champions aren’t trying to find another Jalen Brunson in this group. They’re filling the shelves.

Basically, the parade is over. The paperwork never is.
