The Knicks did not leave any doubt.
They rolled past the Hawks in Game 6, winning 140-89 to close out the series and move on to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
This one flipped fast. A two-point deficit became a 25-point lead by the end of the first quarter. By halftime, the Knicks were up 47, the largest halftime lead in NBA playoff history. The 51-point final margin set a franchise postseason record.
“We’ve always told each other it’s about actions,” Jalen Brunson said, via ESPN’s Vincent Goodwill. “Obviously we want to win, but it comes down to what you do.”
Coach Mike Brown pointed to adjustments after falling behind 2-1 in the series.
“The biggest thing is we had to change our offense,” Brown said. “Every possession was a grind those first three games.”
OG Anunoby led the way with 29 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns recorded a triple-double. Mikal Bridges added 24 on 10-of-12 shooting.
A brief scuffle led to ejections for Mitchell Robinson and Dyson Daniels, but the outcome was already decided.
The Knicks now await the winner of Celtics-Sixers.
