The Ringer has released its latest ranking of the NBA’s top players, and there’s no shortage of material for debate.
Start at the very top.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is ranked No. 1, ahead of Victor Wembanyama, Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic. Jalen Brunson rounds out the top five, followed by Anthony Edwards, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, Cade Cunningham and Stephen Curry.
So yes, there are already arguments to be had.
For Cavaliers fans, Donovan Mitchell checks in at No. 11, just outside the top 10. Evan Mobley is No. 24.
Mitchell is slotted ahead of Karl-Anthony Towns, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, Kevin Durant and LeBron James, among others.
Mobley, meanwhile, lands just behind Jalen Johnson and just ahead of Bam Adebayo.
Other notable placements include Durant at No. 16, James at No. 20, Scottie Barnes at No. 17 and Deni Avdija all the way up at No. 22.
Lists like these are mostly designed to start arguments, of course. Mission accomplished.
The biggest one might be whether Gilgeous-Alexander has officially done enough to knock Jokic from the top spot. The Ringer’s answer is yes.
Plenty of NBA fans will have a different one.
